Stevie's Approach

Stevie’s approach is friendly, interactive, solution focused and completely tailored to you. If you have a problem or issue that you need to work through and find solutions for, she is a trained listener with a wealth of life experience both personal and professional and has a calm, practical and empathetic method. She will help guide you to explore the best way to face and work through your problem or issue.

The issue may be personal, it may be affecting your family dynamics, or you may have a child or teenager who needs guidance. By speaking face to face you will work together to look at where you are in your life today, to identify any issues and then to look at ways to confront them, to break them down and find solutions.

The conversations are completely confidential between Stevie and her clients.  Together you will explore solutions, perhaps changes in behaviour and perspectives, or simply working to feel more comfortable in your skin.

Stevie's Story

I trained as a nurse and after qualification and time working in St Bartholomew’s Hospital, went on to qualify as a Health Visitor. After five years helping young families in a challenging inner city area of London, attached to a forward thinking General Practice, I founded a business called Babytalk.

Babytalk was the first independent Health Visiting service offering a complete baby clinic service in people’s homes in London. I monitored child growth and development while giving informed advice and support on all aspects of baby and young child care. I had the co-operation and approval of the local health authorities, as the majority of my clients were opting out of the clinic services they provided. I visited my families often and regularly to develop strong relationships and provide as much care and guidance as each family needed.

After about five years, I had to discontinue Babytalk after a surprise and late diagnosis of a triplet pregnancy; to the amusement of some of my lovely clients. My identical triplet boys were born at 28 weeks gestation. Despite their prematurity and a handful of initial health issues, they grew into healthy, intensely active toddlers. Their gorgeous sister was born three years later.

I worked for the Multiple Births Foundation as their in-house Health Visitor for a while when the children were young, giving advice and support to families, and running the twin and super-twins clinics.

As time progressed, I started to become interested in mental health and in the prospect of becoming a full time counsellor and psychotherapist. I began a four year counselling and psychotherapy course once they were in full time school. This gave me the tools to work out for myself what needed to change in my own life. Towards the end of the four year course one of my sons, a teenager at the time, started exhibiting mental health problems, at the same time that I realised I needed to end my marriage.

The next few years were some of the most stressful and painful of my life as my son was sectioned under the Mental Health Act several times and eventually diagnosed with schizophrenia. I was therefore unable to complete my qualification despite the four years of study and practice.

The journey has been long and challenging so far but he is in recovery now, living independently and stable on medication.

I have spent the last few years working for an exclusive international introduction agency. I work with people who are looking for lasting love and help to support them during all of the pitfalls and excitements of their individual stories.

I love people, have a fascination for how we think and feel and a deep yearning to help those in need, no matter the scope of the issue they bring. With my life experience to draw upon and a calm, empathetic and practical approach, I am here to help you face the challenges in your life.
